My name is Joel Bouse. I am a fulltime student at Indian River State College where I am studying to be a middle or high school science teacher. I was born and raised in Stuart, Fl. where I have spent the majority of my life. I love it here because my friends and family are here and it offers a wide array of outdoor activities and beauty.
I have come to understand the importance of being technologically fluent as a teacher in the 21st century. With unlimited resources and information just a click away, it is imperative that teachers know how to make use of all the technology that is available to them. It is their responsibility to the schools, the parents, and to the students, to use a multitude of technological resources to give the best educational experience that a child can receive. By knowing what is out there and how to use it gives teachers a major advantage and leaves them one step ahead in the educational world. As a teacher,
I also feel it is my responsibility to enlighten the students on proper etiquette and practices when dealing with online resources. By teaching them about plagiarism and copy right laws they can all learn to respect others’ works and to give credit to those who deserve it.
I decided to become a teacher to use my wisdom and awareness of life to help students gain the knowledge and encouragement they need to succeed. As I went through school, I came to understand the importance of good teachers and realized the lasting impression they can leave on a student. As a teacher I want to make my own contributions to help students gain self-confidence and self-worth so they can be in a greater position to better themselves and others.
